Hypno-Joe run animation number 1

Well attempted a run animation, started out okay, and then quickly turned into a mess. He doesn’t move too bad but a few frames the feet are too close together so they don’t exactly cleanly read as passing…

I think only 5 frames were required, other 5 will be the first 5 in reverse

    Hey Keith,

Looks like you’re early on, so maybe I can make a suggestion:

Hypno-Joe’s central body mass still seems unsure. For a little more definition (and to have a bit of character) try making the central mass a brain (albeit a smaller brain, almost the same size as the mass is now.

A Brain won’t necessarily turn off your audience, especially if it’s small and pink. With a brain as the central mass, then you can add character animations like a dark, storm cloud above the brain and mad-eyes when Joe is Mad or Stars in a circle above the brain and the eyes reeling when Joe gets conked on the head.

In-Game, you can render the brain with colorization that could be a visual cue for the health of Hypno-Joe or perhaps the ‘mental’ state. Maybe the goal of the game is to not get Hypno-Joe Mad like Peter Puppy on Earthworm Jim ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2MrmyU-dkA 3:30 into the game Peter turns psychotic and make you go backwards on the level).

A lot of digital artists will work very large and then reduce the size of the final image (then maybe some post processing).

His “body” is supposed to be a brain. I was just trying to keep perspective right with his legs. And yeah his brain is supposed to be smaller than everything else. Every animation and drawing seems to be different than each other. I will get it eventually. It’s funny you linked Earthworm Jim because that’s the sort of wackiness I will be going for in my game.

This is just one of many, as I seek to hone it in. This is by no means the final.

    Thanks for the input James.
